Studio Skein is an employee-owned architectural co-op dedicated to circular economy principles and community-centric design. Established in 1992, we’ve built a solid architectural portfolio of diverse buildings, spaces, and places, with projects ranging from multi-million-pound housing developments, to high-impact but small-scale community facilities. Now entering a new chapter in our story, we have ambitious plans to decarbonise and establish our reputation in the field of circular design and build, focusing on retrofit, community-led development and creative reuse of existing buildings and materials.

CIRCULARITY

in architecture

We’re building circularity into all our designs, meaning we prioritise pre-used materials, or bio-based natural new materials where essential; designing for demountability and future reuse; and considering future material data traceability.  Moving away from linear (take-make-waste) design practices towards a circular way of doing architecture (retain-refit-refurbish-reuse-recycle), helps us to address the significant environmental impacts of our profession.

PUTTING

our client’s
voice first

As a team of architects, we partner with engineers, consultants, and planners, sharing a common bond and a collective responsibility to create your project. Through honesty and mutual respect, we work together to add value to everything we do for you.

But above all this, as our client, we always put your voice first. The importance of open communication is key to our process and we invest time into developing a meaningful relationship with you. This inclusivity aims to put you at ease and relieve any stress points, so together we can create inspiring and practical spaces that benefit all of our communities.
